Cornish Coast

Cornwall has a special quality of light that’s almost Mediterranean — the water really does turn that extraordinary turquoise when the sun hits it right. This was painted over two sessions near Porthmeor Beach, trying to get the contrast between the warm granite cliffs and the cool sea.

The wind kept trying to steal my paper, so there’s a certain energy to the brushwork that I quite like.
