Buttermere Shoreline
Details
A quiet corner of Buttermere — branches leaning over the water, the lake doing most of the work. The reflection had more colour in it than the tree itself.
An original watercolour of a sheltered stretch of the Buttermere shoreline, on Arches HP 100% cotton. Buttermere is the smaller of two lakes in this western Cumbrian valley — Crummock Water sits to the north, Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike rising behind — and the path along the shore is one of the gentlest in the Lake District. A leafy crown reaching toward the water, the fells held soft in the haze: the kind of corner you find by stepping off the main track for ten minutes.
