Langdale Valley
Details
A view down Langdale toward the snow-dusted fells. Wet skies, broken cloud, autumn colour in the foreground carrying the warmth against the cold blues of the distance.
An original watercolour of Great Langdale in the Lake District, on Arches CP 100% cotton. The valley runs west out of Ambleside between Lingmoor Fell and the Langdale Pikes — a working sheep-farm dale with Wordsworth’s country either side — and in late autumn the bracken turns copper while the high tops keep their first snow. Russet slopes against cold distance: the kind of seasonal pivot the Lakes do better than anywhere else.
