Seebensee’s blue, almost too vivid to believe. Mountains kept quiet, trees darker than they looked, all so the lake could carry the painting.

An original watercolour of the Seebensee in the Tyrolean Alps, on Saunders Waterford Rough 100% cotton. The small high lake sits above Ehrwald in western Austria, with the Mieming Range and the Sonnenspitze rising sharply on either side — one of the most photographed tarns in the eastern Alps. Dark conifers, mist on the peaks, and that impossible glacial turquoise pulling the eye in.
