Watercolour on Arches HP 100% cotton · 9in × 12in

That strange seam between winter and spring — bare trees, but the sky already opening up. The red house anchors everything; the reflection in the water just borrows from it.

An original watercolour of a Sunndalen farmhouse in early spring, on Arches HP 100% cotton. The valley runs inland from the Norwegian fjord country between Trondheim and the Romsdal Alps — bare birch slopes, working hill farms, the deep red of traditional Scandinavian timber against the late-winter ochre of the grass. The reflection in the still meltwater out front does almost as much work as the house itself.
